Bolivian American Soprano

Franchesca Solís is an emerging lyric soprano. She brings to the opera world a fresh perspective on unity, creativity and dedication to music making. Franchesca believes in the magic of the human experience being represented, heard and felt through the art of opera.
Her singing is focused on opera music but is not limited to the great varieties of vocal music in today's world.

Franchesca Solís Biography

Franchesca is eager to share her freedom of expression on the operatic stage. Her curious nature and passion for singing, cultural representation and music making fuels her growth in the performing arts. She believes that the voice is an extension of the soul, in which, singing is an authentic way to share your true colors.
Born into a Bolivian family, Franchesca’s background is enriched with the culture and customs of Bolivia. Since a young age, she has used her talent to educate her community of the beautiful art Bolivian culture has to offer. She has appeared in the Macy’s 86th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, making history of being the first Hispanic ensemble to perform in the infamous parade with Virginia based Bolivian dance ensemble, Alma Boliviana (2011).
She is a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory and Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a Master of Music in Opera Performance.
Since 2016, Franchesca has studied under the direction of soprano, Dawn Kotoski Shicoff. She has worked with Neil Shicoff, Arthur Fagan, Dorothy Danner, John Giampetro, Alan Hicks, and Nancy Gustafson.
Franchesca is an award winning musician. She was the winner of Shenandoah Conservatory’s Student Soloist Competition (2020). Franchesca has been awarded the Cecilia Bartoli Award for Vocal Excellence (Shenandoah Conservatory, 2020 and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’s Duke Ellington Award for the Arts (2013).
She has premiered a new role, Mary Henry, in a new-age opera, Carnival of Souls, written by Shenandoah Conservatory’s director of composition, Jonathan Newman in 2020.
She has been a featured soloist for choir ensembles since 2011 and a participant in a cappela groups throughout her education.

Lesson rates begin at $60.00 and are offered in two different segments of 35 minutes and 60 minutes.
In addition to singing and performing, Franchesca is a well-established voice teacher. Her approach to teaching is an open path tailored to each students individuality and needs in order to best understand their singing voice.The objective is to gain awareness and control of the body in unison with the voice. Once a healthy, sustainable technique is developed, we work on vocal freedom, musical variety, and musical interpretation.Lessons are offered online and in-person in the central New Jersey area.
